“Saranggong” — a name imagined as a portmanteau of the marsh stork and a predecessor to modern-day Serangoon — draws from memories of expansive green fields and the energy of early racing grounds. The project reinterprets these associations through a contemporary architectural language, shaping a venue grounded in landscape, proportion, and occasion.
Conceived as an intimate yet distinguished destination for gatherings, Saranggong comprises two adaptable function rooms and a singular bridal suite. The planning establishes a clear relationship between collective and private spaces, ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining a cohesive spatial identity.
The function rooms are defined by clean geometries and generous volumes, allowing flexibility for corporate events, private celebrations, and formal banquets. Elongated lines and layered planes subtly reference the horizontality of open terrain. A restrained material palette — inspired by earth and marshland tones — lends warmth and texture without excess. Carefully modulated natural light enables each space to transition seamlessly from day to evening, enhancing atmosphere while supporting diverse event settings.
Spatial ingenuity is embedded discreetly throughout. Hidden doors lead to a study and storage spaces; a private bar unfolds through a flip-down table, transforming the living area from dining to after-dinner conversation. In the master bedroom, wardrobe capacity is doubled through a stacked configuration accessed via a slender steel spiral staircase leading to a compact mezzanine. Designed with a light steel framework and glass balustrade, the structure maintains visual permeability, allowing the vertical volume and exterior views to remain uninterrupted.
Pocket sliding doors enable rooms to expand or contract according to use, creating a fluid domestic landscape reminiscent of a finely crafted hotel suite. Yet beyond material richness and detailing, the true expression of luxury here is intangible — a sense of cohesion where every intervention feels necessary, measured and purposeful.
In modern urban living, we believe the home should offer respite and clarity. Through calibrated proportions, disciplined materiality and concealed complexity, this apartment becomes more than the sum of its parts — a retreat shaped precisely around the lives it holds.
