After a successful collaboration, owners of Wafuken approached us to design their 2nd outlet. Wafuken II is a dine in restaurant that serves modern Japanese food with a strong focus on wellness.

In the conception of the design, our team is driven by the strong belief that the design should embody a sense of spatial and visual order to reinforce the restaurant’s wellness concept.

The restaurant is made up of a series of spaces experienced in sequential order; from the dark compressed space at the entrance portal, to the expansion of space at the front of the restaurant, accentuated by uplighting along oak timber paneled walls, and then culminating to a communal table set beneath a sculptural feature element. The visual elements are executed in a restrained manner to create a calm composed space infused with subtle contemporary Japanese aesthetics.
