What first drew us to the apartment was its extraordinary 4.2-metre ceiling height — a rare generosity in a contemporary urban home. Rather than subdivide this volume, the design amplifies it. Vertical timber trims and display shelving draw the eye upward, allowing the full height to be experienced as a defining spatial gesture. A floor-to-ceiling mirror at the living room’s end extends perspective and draws natural light deep into the interior, reinforcing a sense of openness and calm.

To introduce clarity within the tall volume, the ceiling plane is disciplined into two deliberate heights. This subtle modulation establishes order without diminishing spatial generosity. The living room, master bedroom and connecting passage are conceived as a singular timber “box” — wrapped in African Teak veneer and fine timber trims. This continuous envelope provides warmth, cohesion and visual quietness. Within it, doors dissolve into wall panels and storage remains concealed, preserving a seamless architectural expression.

Materiality is restrained and precise. Mirror glass, neutral wall finishes and antique bronze accents introduce depth and refinement without excess. The bathroom is treated as a monolithic counterpart — fully clad in large-format Dekton to minimise joints and achieve visual continuity. Each material is selected not for spectacle, but for its ability to reinforce calm and permanence.

Spatial ingenuity is embedded discreetly throughout. Hidden doors lead to a study and storage spaces; a private bar unfolds through a flip-down table, transforming the living area from dining to after-dinner conversation. In the master bedroom, wardrobe capacity is doubled through a stacked configuration accessed via a slender steel spiral staircase leading to a compact mezzanine. Designed with a light steel framework and glass balustrade, the structure maintains visual permeability, allowing the vertical volume and exterior views to remain uninterrupted.

Pocket sliding doors enable rooms to expand or contract according to use, creating a fluid domestic landscape reminiscent of a finely crafted hotel suite. Yet beyond material richness and detailing, the true expression of luxury here is intangible — a sense of cohesion where every intervention feels necessary, measured and purposeful.

In modern urban living, we believe the home should offer respite and clarity. Through calibrated proportions, disciplined materiality and concealed complexity, this apartment becomes more than the sum of its parts — a retreat shaped precisely around the lives it holds.
